After a very successful first show at Squires Garden Centre, Shepperton, last year, we were delighted to be able to return again this year.
The weather was kind, there were plenty of visitors and it proved to be a very successful day again for the society.
Many thanks to everyone at Squires for making us so very welcome and inviting us back again next year!
Best in Show went to David Mathers for a magnificent bowl of Pleione Glacier Peak. The bulbs on this primary hybrid were enormous and showed the excellent culture that these bulbs had had. Another bowl of Pleione well worth mentioning was a bowl of Pleione grandiflora. This species is one of the parents of Glacier Peak and where it inherits its vigour from.
Other plants worthy of note were the many examples of Dendrobium species on display - certainly Dend. schrautii I had not seen before.
There were also some unusual species from othere genera, such as the very beautiful Coelogyne confusa and Renathera citrina. The small growing Vanda, was also interesting.
